We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with this mission:
To raise awareness of motorcycles on the road, encouraging Michigan drivers to "Look twice and save a life".
To provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have lost a parent in a motorcycling accident.
This mission was inspired by the loss of much-loved husband, father, son, brother, and friend Erik Johnsen in 2012, when a car driver failed to see him and pulled out into his path.
Raising awareness
May is national motorcycle awareness month, and every May since 2014 we have hosted a motorcycle ride and erected a permanent road sign that reminds motorists to watch for motorcycles. At the end of the rides we have a silent auction, a bake sale, and other fundraising activities. The money raised from donations and this event funds the scholarships. Signs have been put up in 5 Michigan counties so far.
Everyone is welcome to join us on this ride -- you don't need to be on a motorcycle to participate.
This Year's Ride is May 17, 2025!
Scholarships
We are currently developing the scholarship application process and looking for sponsors. More info coming soon!
Remembering Erik
Erik was a one of a kind guy who lived life to the fullest. He was always thinking of the other person. He was an organ donor, and we have some comfort from the fact that his tragic death gave life to others.
